I used to catch the train with dad to go to primary school a few days a week, getting off at armadale to walk the rest of the way. I was waiting for a train a few weeks ago, and thought I'd walk around the station and came upon this hand painted train sign (mildly reminiscent of the london tube, which fits in with the suburbs rich mother country aspirations) and instantly recognized it from the days of my youth.
Having been tracking different environmental type across different suburbs I thought I'd also show a few that I found in my street.
There was something odd about the hulking apartment block across the road. I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason it reminds me of a scene in an early David Cronenberg student movie.
The house I was living in was an old women's refuge, the problem being it wasn't as nearly as clinical as I was hoping. It had its oddities (kitchenettes in every room, an exit sign at both ends of the hallway) but no light blue tile bathrooms and multiple bathrooms.
While not as clinical as I was hoping, a few notes left around the house was a constant reminder of the transient nature of the women who lived there before.
